Dorothy, which means “gift of God,” was the name of my beloved mother.
Just about everything I know today about hospitality, style, and being kind to others, I got from her. (A lot of the stuff in my little kitchen also came from her.)

California is my original home where I lived the first 18 years of my life. After that, I moved to Massachusetts where I attended university and continued living for several more years, most recently in Provincetown on Cape Cod.

In 2001 (exactly one month before 9/11...) I made the leap across the great pond and moved to Berlin where I’ve resided ever since.
